  Take it to the Lake consists of a half marathon, 10k, and a one-mile kid's fun run.  Run through the remote Schell Creek Mountain Range and end at beautiful Cave Lake State Park where you will enjoy a free BBQ and raffle!  If you are looking for a beautiful location and a challenging race, this is the half marathon for you!

Half Marathon Runners (& run/walk) - 7:30 AM
10K - 8:00 AM (both run & walk) - 8:00 AM
Kids Fun Run - 10:30 AM
Please note: race times can change prior to event.  Change in times will be emailed to participants and updated here a few days prior to event.
Half Marathon and 10K Participants MUST register online.  Kids can sign up race day at Cave Lake!  Cash or checks ONLY!!!

 

CAVE LAKE PARKING

Each vehicle must obtain a $5 State Parks Parking Permit, unless you have an Annual Pass. There is an option to purchase your parking pass online during registration. You can also purchase a parking pass at package pickup (cash only please). This pass must be visible in your vehicle windshield during the race. All spectator vehicles must also have a parking pass. Parking passes are mandatory everywhere within the State Park. We are not responsible for anyone who does not obtain their permit and gets fined by Cave Lake State Parks!

 

Shuttle 

The shuttle will leave from the Cave Springs Loop parking lot.  This is the parking lot before you turn right to head up to the lake.  Shuttles will leave promptly at the times indicated below.

Package Pickup​

Friday, September 19
5 - 6:30 PM
All participants are required to pick up their swag bag at package pickup.  This event is chipped timed.  Chip is attached to your race bib.  There will be not extra bibs morning of event if race bib is forgotten.

Bristlecone Birkebeiner Winterfest Bristlecone Birkebeiner Winterfest The original Bristlecone Birkebeiner in Ely, Nevada ran from 1983-1993.  We brought this cross-country skiing event back to the community in 2014, but it was canceled due to lack of snow.  In 2015, we held our first successful event with a dusting of snow and four skiers and one trail runner!  This event has continued to grow and is now better than ever!  We have added trail running, for when there isn't enough snow to ski, as well as snowshoe and fat bike events!  Come join us for Nevada's longest running cross-country ski event in Nevada!Event start date: 09/18/2025
Fused Glass Class Fused Glass Class GREAT BASIN COLLEGE - Ely Center Offers a long list of quick courses to learn skills and develop your interests. The FUSED GLASS CLASS is offered Friday, September 19th. Each participant will be able to create a single 9-inch by 9-inch square fused glass plate. Students will learn how to safely handle glass, pre-plan and create their unique design, cut glass, and how to use various glass cutting tools. This course is intended as a step up from a beginner, and will be more hands-on than previous introduction to fused glass classes. Each student will be provided with a clear base, assorted colored sheet glass, other accessory glass items, and all necessary tools to create their own unique works of art. The instructor will kiln-fire each piece after the class. Pieces will be available for pickup at the GBC-Ely Campus.Ely in-person class for ages 12 and up.Event start date: 09/19/2025
