White Pine Public Museum

Activity description

Founded in 1957, by the Ely Business & Professional Women's Club, the White Pine Public Museum has continuously grown and currated a captivating collectioon of historic documents, photography, artifacts, memorabelia, and one of a kind items that inspire visitors and locals contemplating the past.

In June of 1960, The WPPM was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization and marks the beginning of their dedication and efforts to preserve the rich history and heritage of Ely and White Pine County. Since then, the White Pine Museum has served as a repository of history.

Come enjoy a welcoming space filled with windows to the past. Visitors, locals, residents, students, and educators are enabled to deepen their connections to the Wild West, the Great Basin Region, and how Ely and White Pine were shaped since the dawn of time.

The White Pine Public Museum carefully presents and preserves lasting testaments to the people of White Pine County, from the founding Native and indigenous peoples, to the contemporary leaders and influencers of the recent past into the present. This museum, and its sister site, the Historic McGill Drug Store showcase the county's diversity and the legacies of cultures from around the world that settled our area.

See the resilience of the people, the contributions to the world, and the resolute spirit of the many individuals and communities that built the Eastern side of the great State of Nevada.
